Thru hiking the PCT

Our New Journey Begins This July 2025!

We invite you to follow us on our new adventure!

Our Story

In 2010 we set out to conquer all 2650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail as Thru Hikers. Unfortunately due to the heavy snow year,

we were unable to complete our thru hike.

However, the year was not all lost, as we quickly made a decision to flip to the Oregon Coast Trail and hiked the beautiful State of Oregon along the beach (as we waited for the CA snow to melt).  This flip led us on a journey we did not expect,.. with the sea at our feet, we saw another type of ecosystem that was incredible and along the way met so many kind people, who we would have never met without our flip.

In 2023, 13 years later (and 13 years older!) we again set out on the PCT, this time hiking Southbound (SOBO)

and once again we faced a very heavy

snow year throughout the trail leading to Canada.

This gave us many challenges along the way. We were able to re-hike several hundred miles of southern California and then flipped up to complete the PCT for the entire State of Oregon.  Unfortunately, as we neared the Oregon - California border, multiple wildfires broke out ahead of us, causing trail closures and ultimately ended our hike in 2023.

Now in 2025, we have received new PCT  permits to send us back out on trail.  This time hoping to complete as much of the 600 miles we have remaining of the  PCT for Northern California.   We will begin from Ashland Oregon where we ended in 2023 and have chosen to hike  Southbound (SOBO) once again.

From past experiences, we know that no matter how well we plan and how good our intentions are to complete the PCT,  there are many probable scenarios that can cause our hiking plans to change.  This year we have set our sights on finishing Oregon and California.  This will leave us with the State of Washington to complete another year.

We are no longer "Thru Hikers" but now are called "LASH" hikers...

Long A** Section Hikers!

Either way, we are so excited to get back on trail, with the sand crunching under our feet, and our hiking poles marching forward, taking us to new heights, knowing we are blessed to begin again!

Onward and Upward, hiking our own hike

As we start on this new adventure, we leave behind family,

friends and 12 grand kids who we will miss so much!

Thank goodness for social media to keep us connected.

We will take all before us in stride, letting go and letting God lead the way, knowing many times our plans are not the same as God's plans for us.   His plan is always much better and our world gets bigger with His lead.  We are excited to see where He takes us on this journey and looking forward to the many people we will meet along the way!

THE JOURNEY IS OUR DESTINATION!!!

When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock That is higher than I
